Ebenezer Baptist Church is a historic church located in Atlanta, Georgia, closely associated with the civil rights movement and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Founded in 1886, it served as the pastoral home of both King and his father, Martin Luther King Sr.
The church became a central hub for organizing civil rights activities, including the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), which Dr. King led. After his assassination in 1968, his funeral was held at Ebenezer.
Today, the church operates from a modern campus (New Ebenezer) while preserving its original building as part of the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park. It remains an influential institution in both religious and social justice movements.
